What patients usually describe
You do not need all of these. One or two persisting for months is reason enough to look properly.
How this pattern is read
Ojas is Ayurveda's term for the reserve that determines whether an exposure becomes an illness. It is built slowly, from well-digested food, adequate sleep and unhurried living, and it is depleted by the opposite. The clinical picture of low Ojas is recognisable: catching everything going around, taking three weeks to shake a cold that others clear in five days, and a flat tiredness that sleep does not fix. Seasonal junctions — the two to three weeks either side of a season change — are when this shows most, which is why Ayurveda places preventive treatment specifically at those points rather than distributing it evenly through the year.
How treatment is structured
Rule out the obvious first
Anaemia, thyroid dysfunction, vitamin D and B12 deficiency and undiagnosed diabetes all present this way. Blood work comes before herbs.
Restore digestion
Ojas is built from properly digested food. There is no route to immunity that bypasses the gut.
Rasayana at the right moment
Once digestion is functioning, rejuvenative herbs are added — Chyawanprash, Guduchi, Amalaki, Ashwagandha, matched to your constitution.
Seasonal prevention
A short protocol at each seasonal junction, plus daily Nasya for those whose vulnerability is respiratory.
What is realistic, and by when
Post-viral fatigue commonly improves over six to ten weeks. A meaningful reduction in how often you fall ill is judged over a full year, across at least two seasonal junctions — anyone promising it in a month is guessing.
See a doctor promptly if you have
- Recurrent severe infections needing hospital admission
- Persistent fever over two weeks
- Night sweats with weight loss
- Unexplained lymph node enlargement
In an emergency call 112 or go to your nearest hospital.
