Most patients arrive having already been dismissed once
By the time someone books an Ayurvedic consultation, they have usually been round the loop. Tests came back normal. The prescription helped for a while. They were told to manage their stress. Nothing about the pattern was ever explained to them, and eventually they stopped asking.
What Ayurveda offers those people is not a miracle — it is a different set of questions. When did this actually start? What is your digestion like at four in the afternoon? Do you wake at the same hour every night? These are not mystical enquiries. They are how a system built on observation localises a disturbance before naming it.
I trained at Jamnagar and spent six years running a hospital Panchakarma department, which is long enough to lose any romanticism about the subject. Some therapies work reliably. Some work only when the preparation is done properly. Some are prescribed far more often than the evidence supports. A patient deserves to be told which is which.
This practice is deliberately small. I read every intake form myself, write every care plan myself, and keep the fee at ₹500 so that a first consultation is a low enough risk that nobody has to gamble to find out whether this helps.
How I got here
2005–2010
BAMS, Gujarat Ayurved University
Five and a half years at Jamnagar, including a hospital internship where most of the caseload was chronic disease that allopathy had already tried and set aside.
2010–2013
MD (Panchakarma)
Postgraduate specialisation with a dissertation on Virechana protocols in inflammatory skin disease. Three years of doing the procedures daily rather than reading about them.
2013–2019
Hospital practice
Six years running the Panchakarma department of a 60-bed Ayurvedic hospital — roughly 4,000 supervised procedures, and a much clearer sense of which ones actually change outcomes.
2019–present
Independent practice
A deliberately small private practice, and since 2021 online consultations for patients who cannot reach the clinic. One doctor, no assistants writing your plan.
Four commitments, and what they rule out
These are not values statements. Each one changes what happens in a consultation.
Diagnosis before treatment
Ayurveda has a diagnostic framework, and it is more than deciding your dosha from a quiz. Most of a first consultation is spent establishing which pattern you actually have, because the treatments for adjacent patterns often oppose each other.
Honest about limits
Ayurveda is genuinely effective for a defined set of conditions and unhelpful or dangerous as a first line for others. If what you describe needs a cardiologist, a psychiatrist or an oncologist, you will be told that in the first ten minutes.
Alongside, not instead
Nobody is asked to stop a prescribed medication to try Ayurveda. Treatment is designed to work with your existing care, and any reduction is a conversation with the doctor who prescribed it.
A plan you can actually follow
A regimen that requires an unemployed person with a full kitchen is not a plan. Recommendations are built around your working hours, your household and the food you already eat.

“The consultation is thirty minutes because that is how long it takes to hear a history properly. Everything after that — the herbs, the routine, the therapy — is downstream of getting those thirty minutes right.”
